Blooming all Around

We have a wetlands area behind our house. Part of it is owned by us. A few weeks ago I planted a native Scarlett Hibiscus. I was so excited. The other day I looked out my window and I could see the bright red blooms. It was heavenly. I just wish it was a little closer so I could see if hummingbirds (which apparently love this flower) are visiting. Maybe I'll just invest in some binoculars.

My little girls love to pick wildflowers from our native plant wildflower garden and put them in little vases.
A few weeks ago we participated in Hands Across the Sand, a peaceful demonstration of people who don't want oil drilling off the coast of Florida. Believe it or not, there are some politicians around here still pushing for allowing drilling. What a beautiful day we had so much fun!

You never know what you'll find in our garden. This little guy was so interesting. I could have stared at him for hours! The girls were fascinated. A few days later he was gone. I hope he found a nice home to plant his cocoon. Maybe he's flying around somewhere right now.
